Believe it or not, all the stories that are included under this section are actual, real life
events that I have witnessed first hand. None of these stories is fiction in anyway.
Living in small town Mississippi or Georgia may not be the most exciting thing in the world,
but every so often, an event occurs that just has to be recorded and told for others to
hear. The stories included in this section are some of those events. I personally witnessed
first hand each of the stories that are included here for your reading enjoyment. Wherever possible,
the actual names of the people directly involved in these events were used.
Story 1 - "The Lonely Guy"
This is a story of one of my friends that I used to work with at Telcom, in Pearl, Mississippi.
Why is it called The Lonely Guy? Well, I guess you will have to read it to find out. But, once
you get done reading it, I am sure you will agree that no one in the world is more lonely. This story
was written in October of 1996.
Story 2 - "The Day Pearl Stood Still" / "The Salad Story"
In June of 1997, an event took place in Pearl that is almost unbelievable. A tractor trailer
carrying hundreds of pounds of salad mix turned over on the main highway in town. What do you
get when you mix cases of free salads and rednecks? Well, I am not sure, but I know that it
was damn funny.
Story 3 - "The Dog Who Could Not Wait" / "The Dog Story"
The Pearl vs Brandon football game is one of the biggest events to take place in Rankin County,
Mississippi, each year. On this particular meeting of the two high school football teams in
November 1997, something very unusual happened. How many times can YOU say that you have seen
a bulldog shit in the middle of a football field?
Story 4 - "A Pissing Good Time"
May 1st, 1998, was the day that Jazz Fest took place in New Orleans. The Big Easy is definitely
one of the most exciting places to go. Well, on this particular day, for one of my good friends
from Pearl, a trip to The Big Easy turned out to be not so easy. After how, how would you
feel if you got thrown in the slammer for over 16 hours on your vacation?
